Our Liturgy Group has been meeting for over 20 years and consists of the Parish Priest and usually five other parishioners, including a representative of the Musicians Group. The remit of the Liturgy Group is to assist the Parish Priest in co-ordinating the preparation of the liturgy, making sure that the Bidding Prayers, music and other parts of the Mass are arranged for each Sunday in accordance with the Sunday Missal and that the Mass Sheet is printed accordingly.
The Liturgy Group is especially involved at particular times of the liturgical year, such as Advent and Christmas and Lent and Easter, when the Church’s special liturgies are to be prepared and organised. At these times the Group may also arrange extra prayer services or extra reflective material. The Liturgy Group assists the Parish Priest in the arranging of liturgies at other times of the year such as for Remembrance Sunday and Holocaust Memorial Day.
It is also necessary to co-ordinate with the Head Teacher of St Ninian’s Primary School when the Parish children have an input into the Mass as a preparation for the Sacraments, or on other special occasions such as Catholic Education Week.
